As of 2 February 2022, an equivalent of more than UAH 6 billion has been transferred to the special account the NBU opened to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Over UAH 253.5 millon of that amount has been received from abroad in foreign currency.
The NBU has already allocated part of these funds (UAH 1.6 billion) for the needs of the military, in particular:
- UAH 450 million for the National Guard of Ukraine (26 February 2022)
- UAH 150 million for the National Police of Ukraine (28 February 2022)
- and UAH 1,025.3 million for the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine (UAH 182,3 million on 28 February 2022; UAH 675 million on 1 March 2022; and UAH 168 million on 1 March 2022).
Now, the funds on the special account amount to UAH 4.53 billion.
As was announced earlier, the NBU has opened a special multi-currency account to help the Ukrainian Army. Funds can be transferred both to IBAN and from a card.
