In addition to theory tests, students were given exercises close to real-life situations that required them to make informed financial decisions. The students’ abilities to find correlations and interpret financial documents was also put to test.

“Financial literacy is not just knowledge – it’s a powerful instrument that enables every citizen to make informed financial decisions,” the NBU governor said. “It’s a basic skill that everyone needs in today’s world. Developing this skill from a young age is key to the financial resilience of families and the growth of a strong economy. This championship not only tests knowledge, but also provides a great opportunity for students to learn how to apply it in real-life situations. We’re proud of all the participants, and confident that this experience will serve as a solid foundation for their future financial success.”

Junior Achievement Ukraine and the NBU presented all of the finalists with valuable gifts.

“This first-ever championship is an important step towards building a financially literate nation,” said Yurii Tokarskyi, Head of Junior Achievement Ukraine. “Our goal is to provide young people not only with knowledge but also with practical skills that will help them make informed financial decisions. Participation in the championship is not just a competition, but also an opportunity to gain confidence in financial knowledge and abilities.  We’re pleased to see so many Ukrainian students joining in this event.”

The organizers said they plan to hold the championship annually, and they encouraged students and teachers to prepare for future competitions by continuously improving their knowledge. After all, financial literacy is an important step toward a successful future for every young Ukrainian!
