Ukrainian Team to Represent Country at European Money Quiz for Third Time

The NBU has hosted the national final of the European Money Quiz 2025, the largest European financial literacy competition for teenagers.

This year, more than 4,500 students from different regions of Ukraine took part in the competition. The winning team will represent Ukraine in the final, which will be held on 22–23 May 2025 in Brussels (Belgium).

How the competition took place

The competition in Ukraine was held in three stages: school selection, and then regional and national finals. During school selection, teachers independently picked out one team per school from among the registered participants, using the instructions provided. Taking part in the 2025 European Money Quiz school selection process were:

  • 449 educational institutions from across Ukraine
  • 466 teachers who helped organize the competition
  • 4,512 students (2,256 teams) who competed in financial literacy.

Every team consists of two schoolchildren aged 13 to 15.

At the regional selection stage, 297 teams – winners of the school selection – competed with each other.

In the national finals, held as part of 2025 Global Money Week, 24 teams from all regions of Ukraine competed for the right to represent Ukraine at the European finals in Brussels (Belgium).

The national selection process was conducted remotely and live through the Kahoot training platform.

The teams had to answer correctly and as quickly as possible 15 questions covering the topics of payments and settlements, savings, loans, deposits, insurance, investments, taxes, payment fraud, protection of the rights of financial services consumers, charity, and entrepreneurship. In addition to testing the theory, the schoolchildren were also given situational exercises close to real-life situations requiring an informed financial decision.

Why participation in the European Money Quiz is important for Ukrainian youth

Yuliia Yevtushenko, Director of the NBU’s Communications Department, emphasized the importance of having Ukrainian teenagers participate in international financial competitions.

“Financial literacy is an integral part of a successful future for young people. The financial decisions that young people make today will determine their future tomorrow. That is why it is vital to learn to analyze financial information, assess risks, and make informed decisions from school age upward. The European Money Quiz is a great opportunity to test your knowledge, develop teamwork skills, and represent Ukraine internationally. We are proud of our participants and wish them success in the European finals!” she said.

For three years in a row, the Independent Association of Banks of Ukraine has been a partner of the European Money Quiz in Ukraine. This association prepared valuable prizes for the winners.

“Knowledge of finance is not just about learning the theory, but also about acquiring practical skills that are helpful in everyday life. Thanks to the European Money Quiz, Ukrainian schoolchildren have the opportunity to test themselves, compare their level of preparation with that of peers from different countries, and train themselves to meet real-world financial challenges. Participating in the European Money Quiz is a chance to show off your knowledge as well as to learn how to work in a team, respond quickly to challenges, and think strategically. We are delighted to support this initiative and promote the financial literacy of the younger generation,” said Ruslan Hrytsenko, Executive Director of the Independent Association of Banks of Ukraine.

For reference:

The European Money Quiz was launched in 2017 by Europe’s national banking associations in coordination with the European Banking Federation as an initiative to promote financial education among teenagers.

The European Money Quiz is usually held annually in more than 30 countries during the European Money Week in March.

In Ukraine, the European Money Quiz is being held for the third time as part of Global Money Week with the support of the Euro Banking Association, its members, the National Bank of Ukraine, and the Independent Association of Ukrainian Banks
