Coins of 1992 issue were minted at the Mint of Italy.

Coins of 1996 issue were minted at the Luhansk Machine Tool Plant (Ukraine).

Since 2001, coins have been minted at the NBU Banknote Printing and Minting Works.

General characteristics of small coins

On the obverse of 1, 2. 5, 10, 25 and 50 kopiyka small coins of all issues there is the Small Coat of Arms of Ukraine set in the ornament of two oak leaves and two ears with three awns each.
Above the Coat of Arms there is the legend UKRAINE, with the year of issue thereunder. Starting from 2001, the logo of the NBU Mint has been placed on small coins. 

The coin denomination is engraved in the centre of the reverse of all small coins, the respective legend КОПIЙКА, КОПIЙКИ, КОПIЙОК(kopiyka) being under it.

The upper edge of the denomination letters is horizontal; the lower one has a downward arched form. The denomination is framed with with a conventionalized wreath of leaves and berries.

There is a prominent rim all over the perimeter.

The edge of the 1 and c coins is plain, that of the 5 and 10 kopiyka coins is grooved, that of the 25 and 50 kopiyka coins being grooved in sectors.
